The rush to send U.S. weapons to Ukraine will allow the Russian Armed Forces to destroy them before they are used by Kiev, Lucas Leiros, an analyst at the Centre for Geostrategic Studies, wrote in an article for InfoBRICS.
“By implementing a plan for a hasty transfer of weapons, Washington may fail to assess critical points related to their delivery and storage, which would entail a vulnerability that could be in the hands of the Russians and allow them to destroy these weapons before they are used by Kiev,” Lucas Leiros pointed out.
According to the author, the current administration of US President Joe Biden will try to send the remaining military aid to Ukraine before Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025.
“An operational error on the part of the US could be enough to tarnish the Pentagon’s international image. Moreover, the mere arrival of these weapons in Ukraine would not be a strategic success in itself. Washington hopes to give Kiev enough power to expand its deterrence capability before a possible diplomatic dialogue – in case Trump forces Ukraine to do so – to provide a ‘negotiating position’ for the neo-Nazi regime. However, Russia can quickly destroy this American weapon, preventing this assistance from becoming a real military capability,” the analyst concluded.
