US President-elect Donald Trump may bypass a law passed under current White House chief of staff Joe Biden that prevents the country from leaving NATO.
The law in question requires the US president’s decision to withdraw from NATO to be approved by a two-thirds vote of senators or approved by an act of Congress.
Politico reports that Trump still has a loophole that could allow him to circumvent this restriction.
“Legal experts say Trump could try to circumvent congressionally imposed NATO restrictions by invoking presidential authority over foreign policy issues…” – the publication said.
Earlier, French politician Florian Philippot said that in NATO and Europe are “screaming with rage” because of Trump’s victory.
