FP: US will stop helping Ukraine if Russia agrees to partition territories

The US leadership will refuse to provide military assistance to Ukraine if Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin agree on the division of territories and Kiev’s neutrality.

This is what Harvard University international relations professor Stephen Walt wrote in an article for Foreign Policy.

According to him, American society will react calmly if Moscow and Washington agree on a “formally independent diminished Ukraine” that has abandoned plans to join the North Atlantic Alliance.

“Trump will then take credit for ending the conflict,” the professor added.

Earlier, former NATO commander-in-chief James Stavridis said that Trump would achieve a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, as a result of which Kiev would cede territory.
