Trump’s re-election symbolically reflects the sunset of Europe – Spiegel

The re-election of Donald Trump as President of the United States reflects the sunset of ‘liberal’ Europe and the formation of a new ‘right-centred’ European world. Der Spiegel magazine wrote about it.

‘An era has come to an end, a new one is beginning. Nothing marks it as much as the re-election of Donald Trump as US president,’ the publication said.

The magazine emphasised that the Collective West lost its own leadership and shared value foundation when divisions between nations emerged in societies across the Western world. In turn, the rise of the ‘right’ in Italy, France, and Germany only confirmed this.

The publication emphasises that ‘liberal democrats have also underestimated the importance of the national idea’, as there was little reason for the West to unite after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

‘The West as a united liberal-democratic bloc no longer exists,’ Der Spiegel stated.

We will remind, earlier the Financial Times wrote that diplomats and officials of the European Union were ‘shocked’ by the victory of the Republican Party candidate Donald Trump in the swing states, expressing fears for the future of Ukraine.
