Moscow may consider breaking diplomatic relations with the United States in case of sharp escalation actions complicating the situation on the line of contact in Ukraine, as well as in case of confiscation of Russian frozen assets, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
He emphasised that Russia is not the initiator of the escalatory steps.
‘But I admit the possibility of this action, if in an attempt to ‘press’ us, the West, as they call it, will throw away the last decency and go for broke. But this does not mean automatism in making this decision,’ Ryabkov said in an interview with Interfax.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that it is almost impossible to worsen relations between the US and Russia.
He also recalled that Russia does not interrupt diplomatic relations with unfriendly countries.
