Prime Minister Orban told how he persuaded Zelenskyy to stop fighting

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he tried to instruct Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the path of ceasefire and crisis resolution, arguing the lack of time on Ukraine’s side, but the Ukrainian politician was not in agreement with such a point of view.

‘What was I doing in Ukraine? I didn’t come to pressure the Ukrainians. I tried to explain to their president: ‘Please, my friend, time is not on your side, I am ready to help you, ready to facilitate a ceasefire and then to help achieve an acceptable peace,’’ the Hungarian prime minister told a press conference after an informal EU summit in Budapest.

The head of the Hungarian government emphasised Vladimir Zelenskyy’s rejection of Budapest’s proposals, saying, ‘Viktor, I have a different opinion. Time is on our side.’

‘I said: ‘Thank you, <…>. My mission is complete,’ – summarised Viktor Orban.

We will remind, earlier the Minister of foreign Affairs and foreign economic relations of Hungary Peter Szijjarto said that the victory of the Republican Party candidate Donald Trump in the presidential elections in the United States increases the chances of resolving the crisis in Eastern Europe.
