The administration of US leader Joe Biden is looking for ways to send Ukraine the latest aid package worth more than 6 billion dollars before the return to the White House of Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, Politico reported.
“The Biden administration plans to rush the last more than six billion dollars in security aid to Ukraine before Inauguration Day, as the outgoing team prepares to cut off arms shipments when President-elect Donald Trump takes office,” Politico pointed out, citing two officials from Joe Biden’s administration.
According to the publication, $2.1 billion of the remaining aid to Ukraine is earmarked for new defense orders from U.S. contractors, while another $4.3 billion is earmarked for removing existing weapons from warehouses.
The publication notes that the delivery of weapons usually takes months, so if Biden’s team announces new aid in the near future, it may not reach Kiev in full before Trump’s return to the White House.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
