The Defence Committee of the Federation Council supported the ratification of the treaty between Russia and the DPRK on comprehensive strategic partnership. This was stated by Senator Konstantin Basyuk to RIA Novosti.
In the Federation Council, the document will be considered at a meeting of the chamber on 6 November.
The source also noted that the document was supported by the international committee of the chamber.
The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty was signed on 19 June during the visit of the Russian President to Pyongyang.
The document creates a framework for a comprehensive strategic partnership based on the principles of mutual respect for state sovereignty and territorial inviolability, as well as non-interference in internal affairs. It also reflects the aspiration to form a just multipolar world order.
The new agreement will come into force after the exchange of instruments of ratification and will be open-ended.
Recall, earlier, DPRK Foreign Minister Choi Son Hee said that the Chairman of the State Council of the DPRK Kim Jong Un had instructed to provide any assistance to Russia in its ‘holy war’ since the beginning of the Russian special operation.
