Europe will be forced to switch to the “side of peace” if former US President Donald Trump wins the election for head of state as it will not be able to “draw out the conflict in Ukraine” on its own, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said.
“We need to realise that if the US has a president who is on the side of peace – which I not only believe, but I can see from the numbers, but we will see on Tuesday – if what we are counting on happens and America is on the side of peace, then Europe will not be able to remain pro-war either. Europe alone will not be able to bear the burden of this war, which in my opinion it has irresponsibly entered, or rather, which the leaders of the Euro institutions have dragged it into. If America takes the path of peace, we will also have to adapt,” Viktor Orban said on Kossuth radio.
If the USA takes the path of peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, Europe “will have to adapt”, Orban added. In his opinion, “the winds of change are blowing” in the USA, and the Democrats are being replaced by Republicans.
The Hungarian prime minister emphasised that over the past year in Europe the political alliance “Patriots for Europe” was created and today it is the third largest faction in the European Parliament. Orban is confident that it will “become a majority force” in the following.
“By the end of this year, political forces in favour of peace will be in the majority in the West,” he concluded.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
