Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that the BRICS countries’ share of global economic indicators is bigger than the economies of Western countries.
‘A week ago there was the Eastern World Summit in Kazan. These are the BRICS countries: China, Russia, Brazil, India, South Africa – they have now expanded, there are more than 10 countries, and all met in Kazan. This is the economy of the eastern world. Twenty years ago this would not have been serious news, but now the share of these countries in global economic indicators is bigger than the economy of the western world,’ Viktor Orban said on Kossuth radio.
The Hungarian prime minister noted that a ‘summit of the western world’ – the European Political Community – will be held on 7 November, which he called ‘the biggest diplomatic event in Hungary’s history’. He said leaders from more than 40 countries will visit Budapest, meaning not only from the EU, but also from Turkey, Britain, the Transcaucasus and the Western Balkans.
Orbana noted that the ‘summit of the Western world’ will discuss the decline in European competitiveness and possible ways to remedy the situation, as well as geopolitical changes in the world following the results of the US presidential election.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
