NYT: any outcome of the US election will play into Russia’s hands

Any outcome of the United States presidential election will play into Russia’s hands in the conflict in Ukraine.

Ukrainian military analyst Oleksandr Kovalenko told The New York Times.

In his opinion, the victory of Donald Trump or Kamala Harris can cause political changes inside the US. In turn, this will create conditions for Russia’s strengthening. Disputes in the US that may arise after the vote will create additional chaos, which ‘will be in Russia’s favour’.

‘Events in the US will distract American society from Ukraine,’ Kovalenko added.

Earlier, Simon Schlegel, a senior analyst at the International Crisis Group, said that if Republican Donald Trump wins the US presidential election, the Ukrainian leadership will face the need to make ‘painful decisions.’

The Conversation wrote that the new US president would have a dramatic impact on the Ukrainian conflict if the election goes ahead.
