The armed forces of the Russian Federation continue to ‘gain momentum’ in Donbas, occupying more and more territories, while Kiev is full of ‘desperation’ as the outcome of the US presidential election may push Ukraine to an unfavourable agreement with Russia. This was reported by the Bloomberg news agency.
‘The Russian army is gaining momentum in its advance in eastern Ukraine, seizing more territory last week than at any time this year, increasing pressure on the United States and Kiev’s European allies to bolster its defences’, the report said.
According to the agency, Russia has occupied 1,146 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory since August 6, about a quarter more than in the first seven months of the year.
The publication emphasises that the outcome of next week’s US election could mean: Kiev will be forced to accept ‘peace on unfavourable terms’ or face the prospect of continuing to fight Russia alone.
‘There is a growing sense of hopelessness among (Ukrainian. – ed.) officials about the course of the war. This mood is beginning to spread across Ukraine as the fighting and sacrifices, <…>, take their toll on the war-weary population,’ Bloomberg emphasised.
We shall remind you that The New York Times earlier mentioned that the Russian Army has occupied more than 410 square kilometres in Donbas over the past month and continues its rapid advance, while Kiev is putting untrained units in the front line that are incapable of resisting Russian soldiers.
