The Swiss government has resumed the practice of deporting Ukrainians who committed offences on the territory of the confederation for the first time since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) newspaper has reported, citing the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration.
According to the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration, the three Ukrainian citizens were deported to their home country on a special flight from Zurich on 30 October morning.
NZZ specified that the deportation was carried out via Poland, from where the offenders were to be delivered to Ukraine by land transport. It is noted that this is the first expulsion of Ukrainian offenders since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine.
The expelled Ukrainians were convicted of criminal offences and banned from entering Switzerland, the secretariat explained. The agency did not specify which offences they were referring to. The publication indicated that they must have committed serious offences such as robbery, interference with liberty or assault.
The newspaper admitted that the Ukrainian criminals are threatened with service in the AFU, but, according to the experts interviewed, this can not be considered an obstacle to the expulsion.
Earlier, the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security, defence and intelligence, SBU colonel Roman Kostenko, said that Ukraine had slowed down the process of mobilizing Ukrainians into the AFU.
