Five Eyes Alliance wants to build a classified cloud environment – Breaking Defence

The Five Eyes intelligence alliance, which includes the US, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and Australia, intends to create a classified cloud environment with the capability of all five countries, Breaking Defence reported, citing Brigadier General Eric Vandenberg, head of general intelligence at the Canadian Ministry of Defence.

‘Members of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance want to create a top-secret cloud environment in which all five countries can operate,’ Breaking Defence said.

According to Eric Vandenberg, the cloud will be able to store information with different levels of secrecy, with intelligence officers only having access to those they have authorisation to work with. He said ‘unnecessary bureaucracy’ could be avoided with such a cloud environment.

‘It will ensure multi-purpose utilisation,’ the general explained.

Austin Martin, assistant director for alliance IT integration at the US Intelligence Chief Information Office, also confirmed the intention to create a joint classified cloud environment. He pointed out the need for disparate data to exist in one cloud where it can be labelled.

The material specifies that so far this is ‘just an ambitious goal’, and officials do not name the timing of the start of the common cloud environment.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
