45% of Americans do not consider their interests represented in the U.S. – NYT

The democratic system in the United States as not representing the interests of the people see 45% of Americans, follows from a poll by the New York Times and sociologists from Siena College. 49% of respondents agreed with the opposite statement.

‘Nearly half of all voters are sceptical about the effectiveness of the American experiment in self-government, and 45% believe the country’s democracy fails to fully represent the interests of ordinary people,’ the New York Times reported based on the poll.

Most Americans believe that their government works only in the personal interests and interests of the elite – 62% of respondents hold this view. Only 33% of Americans believe that the presidential administration is acting for the good of the people and the country.

Big changes in the political and economic system of the U.S. want to see 51% of respondents, 38% of respondents were in favour of minor changes, and 7% of respondents were in favour of complete destruction of existing institutions.

Recall, earlier the channel News Nation said that the residents of the United States have debts more than ever before in history. Today, the cost of living for the average American has increased by 14 per cent, and the total debt of American citizens has reached $17 trillion.
