Erdogan said Israel’s desire to spark a regional conflict

By attacking Iran, Israel is seeking to unleash conflict on a regional scale, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

“The Zionist government of Israel, indulged by Western powers, is trying to light the fuse of a regional conflict. I hope this game will not be played,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, speaking in Hatay province in the southeast of the country, broadcast by TRT Haber TV.

Israel’s strikes on Iran were also condemned by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, emphasising that with this attack Tel Aviv has brought the region to the brink of a wider conflict.

“Putting an end to Israeli terror in the region has become a historic task for international security and peace. We call on the international community to take immediate measures to enforce the law and stop the government of (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin – ed.) Netanyahu”, – said Turkish diplomats.

Earlier, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that the Israeli army used white phosphorus munitions banned by international conventions in strikes on sites in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
