The court sentenced to 7 years a mercenary from Georgia, who fought for the AFU

The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic sentenced in absentia to 7 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony a mercenary from Georgia who fought for the AFU, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation reported.

‘The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic passed a judgement in absentia on the criminal case against 28-year-old citizen of Georgia Giorgi Kinoiani. He was found guilty under part 3 of article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict). Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced Kinoiani in absentia to 7 years of imprisonment with serving the sentence in a penal colony of general regime’, – stated in the message of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.

According to the department, from March to April 2022, Kinoiani arrived in Ukraine and joined the ‘Georgian National Legion*’, where he underwent military training. He was provided with personal firearms, ammunition, uniforms and special equipment. Kinoiani took part in combat operations on the side of Ukraine in various points of contact.

The amount of remuneration received by a citizen of Georgia for participation in hostilities on the side of the AFU exceeded 155 thousand rubles.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims.’
