Politico: US makes excuse that sanctions are not aimed at collapsing Russia’s economy

The US, amid the failure of anti-Russian sanctions, has started making excuses that they were allegedly not aimed at collapsing the Russian economy.

The Politico newspaper writes about this, citing an official from the US administration.

‘The goal of this economic tactic was never the collapse of the Russian economy, it cannot have such a goal,’ the report said.

Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that the United States authorities would tighten anti-Russian sanctions next week and try to take measures against Moscow’s circumvention of US restrictions.
