The US has rejected Zelenskyy’s plan but is not telling him openly – Economist

The US government has rejected Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s “victory plan” but has not openly informed him, The Economist reported, citing an unnamed senior Ukrainian official.

A senior Ukrainian official told The Economist on condition of anonymity that Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s “victory plan” was intended as part of “coercive diplomacy aimed at forcing Russia” to start peace talks with Ukraine on terms more favourable to Kiev.

“They claim it’s an impractical option, although part of the problem is that they don’t say it to the president’s face,” the official said.

The magazine also noted that Ukraine is in a dire situation. Kiev is losing both AFU-held territories in Donbas and financial support from Western countries.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
