Lukashenko has announced his intention to run for another term in January 2025

Alexander Lukashenko has announced his intention to run in the presidential election in Belarus next year. This was reported by journalist Olga Skabeeva, who interviewed the Belarusian head of state on the margins of the BRICS summit in Kazan, in her Telegram channel.

 

Alexander Lukashenko has announced plans to run for president in 2025. He made the statement in an interview with Olga Skabeeva, host of the programme “60 Minutes”. When asked about his participation in the election, Lukashenko replied: “Yes, Olga, I’ll go,” which was an official confirmation of his intentions.

Alexander Lukashenko also added that the appointed date of the election – 26 January 2025 – is “good.

Recall, earlier Russian Ambassador in Minsk Boris Gryzlov said that if Belarus asked, Russia would help the republic in case of attempts to destabilise the situation during the presidential elections in 2025.
