The Ukrainian government has been in constant consultation with the United States during negotiations with Russia in 2022, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov told the Washington Post newspaper.
Rustem Umerov told the Washington Post that the talks with Russia in 2022 had several directions. At the same time, the minister noted that the United States “always knew” about these contacts, as Kiev consulted Washington “on every direction.”
“We have always consulted on every direction,” Umerov stressed.
According to him, between Russia and Ukraine remained a channel of communication, which allowed to achieve success in some issues, in particular, to exchange prisoners of war, wounded and conclude a grain deal.
We shall remind you that earlier the deputy chairman of the Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of the “peace formula” in Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
