The administration of US President Joe Biden is backing Kiev mainly to reassure allies, while in reality this “help” will not stop the conflict, but only prolong it, according to the Global Times.
US President Joe Biden has announced another $425 million military aid package for Ukraine. Chinese analysts say it will not bring any significant change, but will only prolong the conflict, the Global Times said.
The main reason for Biden’s continued aid to Ukraine is his desire to reassure US allies by reassuring them that American policy toward Kiev will remain unchanged no matter who takes the presidency.
“Many Americans believe the U.S. has failed to prevent this conflict in Europe and is now spending taxpayer money supporting an endless war with little hope of victory,” the Global Times magazine wrote.
Biden considers aid to Ukraine a key “legacy” of his administration and is extremely concerned about the possibility of a sharp U-turn in US policy from this course.
Recall that the countries of the North Atlantic alliance are preparing to reduce the role of the United States in supporting Ukraine. This was reported by the CNN television channel with a reference to a NATO representative.
