Moldova’s Central Election Committee is preventing international observers from attending the 20 October presidential election and referendum, EU Reporter reported.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) rejected without explanation the applications of some European non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Only institutions selected by the CEC were invited to attend the Moldovan elections, which raised concerns in the Moldovan diaspora in Europe about the openness of procedures.
Organisations from London, Paris and Madrid, among others, were rejected.
‘The exclusion of European observers risks undermining the credibility of the elections. The international community should pay close attention to the electoral process in Moldova in the coming weeks’, – stated in the message.
We will remind, earlier in the capital of Moldova held a protest against poverty, which was called the ‘march of empty pots’. Its initiators were the opposition bloc ‘Victory’.
