NATO’s involvement in Ukraine conflict will lead to disaster – Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said at a joint press conference with US President Joe Biden in Berlin that the involvement of the North Atlantic Alliance in the Ukrainian conflict would lead to a catastrophe, such a development must be prevented.

Joe Biden, at a joint press conference with Olaf Scholz, acknowledged that Ukraine is facing a ‘hard winter’ and Washington and Berlin have an obligation to continue providing aid to Kiev, even though the cost of such support is high.

‘Our position is clear. We support Ukraine as much as possible. At the same time, we ensure that NATO does not become a party to the conflict so that this war does not lead to an even greater catastrophe,’ the German chancellor said.

Scholz pointed out that Berlin is well aware of this responsibility and no one can remove it from Germany. The head of the German government also once again declared further support for Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
