Representatives of both US parties are demanding Kiev lower the mobilisation age to 18, said Sergei Leshchenko, an adviser to the head of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office.
‘Since this information has come to the surface, I can confirm: American politicians from both parties are pressing President Zelenskyy on the question of why Ukraine does not mobilise those who are between 18 and 25 years old,’ he wrote in Telegram.
According to Leshchenko, the US argues that this is based on the experience of the conflict with Vietnam, when guys were taken into the army from the age of 19.
The adviser to the head of Zelenskyy’s office added that he has not yet conceded.
