New command for Ukraine ‘will make a difference on the battlefield’ – Rutte

North Atlantic Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte has said that the new command to coordinate NATO’s military assistance to Kiev (NSATU) will ‘change the situation on the battlefield’, the bloc’s press service reported.

‘He said that the new command will seriously change the situation on the battlefield for Ukraine and ‘for our (NATO – ed.) own security’,’ the NATO press service said in a statement.

It is noted that the command of the North Atlantic Alliance to promote security and training of Ukrainian troops will be located in the German city of Wiesbaden. About 700 military personnel will be stationed at the new headquarters, as well as at the logistics hubs next to it.

In addition, NSATU will ‘coordinate the provision of military training and equipment for Ukraine by NATO allies and partners, including artillery, ammunition and air defence equipment, as well as help Ukrainian troops prepare for the future’.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from its positions even if it received new assistance from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
