In the EU, they discuss Europe’s readiness for winter without gas from Russia – Bloomberg

The possible stoppage of gas supplies from Russia to Europe by transit through Ukraine after 2024 due to the expiry of a bilateral contract poses risks to the energy security of European countries, which is urgently trying to find alternative sources, the Bloomberg news agency reported.

According to Bloomberg, on 15 October in Luxembourg at a meeting of the EU energy chiefs, the ministers are to discuss “the continent’s readiness for winter” at a time when the threat of cutting off Russian fuel supplies has already led “to a rise in energy prices and put pressure on the regional network”.

It is noted that Ukraine has been a key route for gas supplies to Europe for many years and it will be difficult to find alternative gas flows.

According to the agency, the final decision on this problem, “most likely, will be made at the last minute or even at the beginning of next year”.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, “someone is striving” to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
