The European Union has failed to persuade the Gulf states to make a number of pro-Ukrainian commitments, Politico reports.
Shortly before the first summit of the political association and Cooperation Council of the Arab Gulf States (GCC) to be held in Brussels, the European Union has failed to convince Arab countries to cut off aid to Russia and make ‘pro-Ukrainian commitments’.
‘The EU has so far failed to persuade Gulf states to make a series of pro-Ukrainian commitments ahead of Wednesday’s leaders‘ summit in Brussels,’ the publication said.
The Gulf states rejected the EU’s call to cut off aid to Russia and stick to sanctions. Instead, they proposed to stop sending weapons to the conflict zone.
Recall, earlier the President of Kyrgyzstan said that the Western countries are trying to pressure Russia’s partners, but they should not tell the CIS member countries to interact on issues of cooperation.
