Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has come up with a plan to help US presidential candidate Donald Trump cut aid to Kiev, Politico writes.
According to the newspaper, Orban has found a way to help Trump avoid giving a loan to Ukraine if he wins the election.
According to the publication, if the EU and the US together allocate the loan, Washington will be forced to service it for years.
However, if the loan is approved without the US, there will be no such obligations.
This will allow Trump to promise voters that if he wins, he will not give money to Kiev, the publication writes.
It is noted that Hungary does not agree to change the rules that would allow Washington to play a significant role in questions about the loan, until after the US elections.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that the intellectual level of discussions about Ukraine in the EU was ‘not very high’.
