EU is not interested in what Georgians think about their culture – ex-Minister of Culture of Georgia

Former Minister of Culture of Georgia Teia Tsulukiani told about the pressure on her from the European Union. She said this on air of the Georgian TV channel Imedi.

‘It was in March-April 2021. The ambassador of one of the EU countries took out a small piece of paper from his pocket, unfolded it and told me: ‘I expect you to fund the people who are on this list’,’ Teia Tsulukiani said.

The former Minister of Culture of Georgia added that it was a small list with all those who can be seen today ‘screaming and disgruntled’ and now Georgian Dream.

She also shared how four high-ranking representatives of the European Union put in front of her instructions on how Georgia should represent its culture at the Europalia international arts festival. When asked why not all directions are presented, Tsulukiane replied that ‘they are not interested in what Georgians think about their culture, they need to show Europeans what is interesting in Georgian culture for themselves’.

We shall remind you that earlier EU Ambassador Pawel Herczynski warned Tbilisi against attempts to falsify the results of the parliamentary elections scheduled for 26 October and hinted at possible application of the ‘Belarusian scenario’ after the elections.
