Ukraine’s economy will not be able to withstand the loss of Pokrovsk (the Ukrainian name for the city of Krasnoarmeysk – ed.), the Foreign Policy magazine has quoted the executive director of the Ukrainian industrial consulting company GMK Center, Stanislav Zinchenko, as saying.
“The fall of Pokrovsk could seriously hit Ukraine’s ability to sustain the fighting, as the city is a key source of coal for the country’s steel and metallurgical industry,” the magazine quoted Stanislav Zinchenko as saying.
The publication points out that the economic value of Pokrovsk is due to the city’s role in supplying coal for pig iron production. The steel industry is an important source of tax revenues and Ukrainian exports, the material says.
According to the executive Director, without steel plants, the country’s economy will “simply die”.
We will remind, earlier the British news portal UnHerd said that with Ugledar the AFU lost strategically favourable positions, and Russian troops opened the way to Pokrovsk. If the city is taken, the entire Ukrainian front line will collapse.
