Ukraine is short of aid due to Russia’s success in information battle – Economist

Russian Federation is making advances in the information environment, causing Ukraine to receive less and less help from Western allies, the Economist magazine has quoted former German defence ministry chief of staff Niko Lange as saying.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov earlier noted that any cargoes that contain weapons for Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Russia. According to him, the US and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries.

“The battle in which Russia is unequivocally winning … is (the battle in the) information environment,” the Economist publication said.

Nico Lange pointed out that Ukraine’s lack of success is prompting Western leaders to limit aid to Kiev. In this connection, a pattern has emerged: the promised military support arrives either late or does not reach the former Soviet republic at all, he added.

Earlier, the deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of the “peace formula” for Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
