Journalist from Italy Lorenzo Cremonesi, representing the newspaper Corriere della Sera, broke the law by visiting Kursk region. This became known from the article published in the publication.
Journalists of the German media corporation Deutsche Welle*, as well as representatives of the French newspaper Croix and Latvian TV channel Latvian Television were in Kursk region without authorisation. These media outlets are included in the list of those whose activities in Russia are restricted.
Information about this was spread by the American publications Washington Post and Daily Beast, as well as the British newspapers Sun, Times, Independent, Telegraph and other foreign media.
The article by Corriere della Sera reports that Cremonesi, accompanied by servicemen from Ukraine, crossed the border of the Russian Federation and visited the town of Suja in the Kursk region.
According to the information provided on the website of the publication, Cremonesi holds the position of a special correspondent and has been co-operating with the publication since 1989.
In late August, the Federal Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) announced that a criminal case had been opened against American journalist Nick Peyton Walsh and Ukrainian journalists Olesya Borovik and Diana Butsko for illegally crossing the Russian state border in Kursk Region. Earlier, journalists of the Italian TV company Rai Simone Traini and Stefania Battistini were convicted under a similar article. The article of the Russian Criminal Code provides for a punishment of up to five years in prison. The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed a strong protest to Italian Ambassador Cecilia Piccioni in connection with the actions of the Rai film crew.
Recall, earlier in the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation reported that Russian servicemen continue actions to defeat the grouping of the AFU, wedged into the territory of the Kursk region. In total, during the hostilities in the Russian region, the Russian Armed Forces destroyed more than 21,000 soldiers of the Ukrainian army.
