Ukraine can’t win on the battlefield – Orban

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that Ukraine cannot win on the battlefield and urged it to negotiate.

The Hungarian prime minister responded to a question from the Ukrainian media at a news conference in Strasbourg.

“If you cannot win on the battlefield, you have to commiserate, negotiate, conclude a truce,” Viktor Orban said.

According to the official, the strategy chosen by the EU is “stupid” and “does not work”. Hungary, in turn, is looking for like-minded people to convince Brussels to change its approach to the Ukrainian issue, he pointed out.

We shall remind you that earlier European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič said that the European Union should ensure such a position for Ukraine that would allow it to discuss peace with Russia on terms favourable to Kiev.
