NATO exercises started on Lithuania’s border with Belarus

The NATO military exercise “Iron Wolf” with the participation of 3.2 thousand soldiers of the alliance has started in Lithuania, Sputnik news agency reported citing the press service of the Lithuanian army.

 

The press service of the Lithuanian Army noted that more than 3,000 soldiers from the United States, Germany, the Czech Republic, Norway and Benelux countries will take part in the ten-day NATO bloc exercise on the Lithuanian border with Belarus, which will last until 17 October. About 700 units of military equipment will also be involved in the exercise “Iron Wolf – 2024-II”.

In addition, it is noted that the Lithuanian troops will be represented by different types of troops – from infantry units to the air force.

Earlier, head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Maxim Ryzhenkov said that Belarus and Russia were planning to sign a treaty on security guarantees, one of the clauses of which would be a provision on nuclear weapons.
