The European Union should ensure that Ukraine is in a position that would allow it to discuss peace with Russia on terms favourable to Kiev. European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič said this.
Maroš Šefčovič indicated during a meeting of the European Parliament dedicated to preparations for the upcoming EU summit on 17-18 October that the meeting would discuss the development of the crisis and armed conflict in Ukraine.
According to him, the EU leaders are keen to reach an agreement as soon as possible on macro-financial assistance of up to 35 billion euros as a contribution to the G7 common credit, which should be transferred by the end of 2024.
The EC vice-president noted that the EU was working to ensure that Ukraine was ready for winter. The forces of the association make repairs, connection, stabilisation of energy supplies to Kiev, he concluded.
We shall remind you that earlier the Spanish newspaper El Pais said that Kiev’s allies were putting pressure on Ukraine and Volodymyr Zelenskyy to agree to end the conflict.
