US intelligence from the very beginning of the Ukrainian conflict has been passing information to Kiev for strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin said at the 55th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS member states in Astana.
‘According to the SVR, US intelligence has been passing information to Kiev from the very beginning of the conflict, which is then used to launch strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure,’ the text of Sergey Naryshkin’s speech reads.
According to him, the risks and threats from Western countries have multiplied, although Russia has never wished them anything bad, Western countries are trying to maintain their aggressive dominance in the modern world and are directing special aspirations at the post-Soviet space.
‘Today you and I are working and carrying out our co-operation in extremely difficult conditions of global turbulence. The risks and threats from Western countries have multiplied, although we have never wished them anything bad. Trying to maintain their aggressive dominance in the modern world, Western countries are directing their special aspirations to the post-Soviet space,’ he said.
The head of the SVR pointed out that the West seeks to bring chaos into the socio-political processes in the CIS countries, to heat up ‘smouldering’ conflicts and exacerbate existing problems of socio-economic nature. For this purpose, the West uses illegitimate mechanisms of sanctions pressure that flagrantly violate the norms of international law, fundamental principles of global trade and fair competition, Naryshkin concluded.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
