Ukraine is preparing a provocation with chemical weapons, which will be blamed on Russia – Russian Defence Ministry

Ukrainian authorities are preparing a provocation to accuse Russia of using poisonous substances during a special operation, said the head of radiation, chemical and biological defence troops of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.

‘At present, the Russian Defence Ministry has information about Ukraine’s preparation of provocations to accuse the Russian Federation of using poisonous substances during SMO,’ Igor Kirillov said at a briefing.

According to him, for this purpose, 40 employees of the Ukrainian security services were trained in sampling at the Chemical Technology Centre in The Hague. Kiev also received detectors and analysers from the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) Technical Secretariat, the data from which the Organisation will accept. A total of 13 First Defender detectors and 70 LCD 3.3 analysers, which meet the Organisation’s requirements for documenting evidence, were handed over.

‘It is expected that the materials of fabricated ‘evidence’ will be used in the framework of the 107th session of the OPCW Executive Council, which will begin on 8 October 2024, as well as at the Conference of States Parties of the Organisation in November this year,’ the Lieutenant General pointed out.

In addition, Kiev has concluded an agreement with the OPCW that will allow Ukraine to appeal to the Organisation by circumventing the necessary procedures and imposing false conclusions on chemical incident investigations, Kirillov added.

The head of the Russian Chemical Defence Forces stressed that in this way Kiev was seeking to further deprive Russian representatives of their positions in the OPCW Technical Secretariat.

Allegations of threats of Russia’s use of chemical weapons are groundless, all stockpiles were destroyed back in 2017 under OPCW control

The AFU used Western chemical weapons disguised as smoke shells in Sudzha in August

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
