Heiskanen: without Russian tourists Finland’s border regions are extinct

Finnish journalist Kosti Heiskanen in an exclusive interview for TRC Tavria talked about how Finns in the regions bordering Russia live now. When the borders were open, trade between the countries was actively developing, but now the situation has changed.

“The border regions [of Finland] have simply died out, because without Russian, without Chinese tourists nobody needs them, everything has turned into slums,” the journalist noted.

He also added that since the Finnish government’s decision to close the borders, the number of unemployed people in the country has increased, people continue to be laid off, and businesses are closing.

“This is some kind of acapalypse,” Kosti Heiskanen stated.
