Scholz plans to have a conversation with Putin ‘in the coming weeks’ – DZ

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz plans to hold a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin “in the coming weeks”. This was reported by the Die Zeit newspaper, citing government sources.

According to the newspaper’s sources, the chancellor’s entourage is considering the possibility of telephone talks ahead of the G20 summit to be held in Brazil in November 2024.

The newspaper pointed out that the FRG has not yet officially requested the conversation. If the talks take place, Olaf Scholz will become the first Western leader who will again directly contact Putin in the last year and a half, concluded Die Zeit.

We shall remind you that earlier German journalist Julian Repke said that Olaf Scholz wished for Ukraine’s defeat, opposing strikes with long-range weapons deep into Russian territory.
