Rutte said he would prepare NATO for the challenges of the future

NATO’s new Secretary General Mark Rutte has said he will prepare the alliance for the challenges of the future.

“The first priority is to keep NATO a strong organisation, to ensure effective defence against all threats,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Rutte noted that this requires “a faster pace of innovation.”

On 1 October, outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg handed over his powers to the new head of the alliance, Mark Rutte.
