WP has revealed which US state is benefiting from the Ukrainian conflict

The city of Scranton, Pennsylvania, which has a military artillery shell production plant, is benefiting from the Ukrainian conflict – General Dynamics has created more than 200 jobs at the plant, reversing the “economic decline of the region”. This was reported by The Washington Post newspaper, citing sources.

“Before the artillery shells reach Ukrainian troops on the front lines of their war with Russia, they will be an economic boon for northeastern Pennsylvania,” the report said.

The newspaper stressed that since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, the United States has provided Ukraine with some $175 billion in emergency aid to “resolve the conflict.” However, most of this money remains in the United States, “it feeds factories such as the Army plant in Scranton.”

The publication highlights that Gentex, a military contractor in nearby Carbondale, has increased its workforce by 10 per cent over the past year – these jobs are “helping to reverse the region’s economic decline”.

“For decades after coal mines and textile mills closed, unemployment here was at least two percentage points higher than the national average. Now it often surpasses national rates as the region has diversified into health care, education and logistics – and is beginning what locals hope will be a manufacturing renaissance,” The Washington Post concluded.

Just to remind you, Politico earlier mentioned that some Republican Party supporters of Ukraine regarded Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s trip to a military plant in Scranton in the state of Pennsylvania as an attempt by the politician to influence the US domestic political process.
