AFU uses explosives from unexploded Russian shells for UAVs – Newsweek

Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are extracting explosives from undetonated Russian shells for use in their own drones, Newsweek magazine has said.

According to the magazine, Ukrainian sappers extract explosives from unexploded Russian shells for their further use. This practice is spreading among the AFU units because the problem of the shortage of explosives at the front has not yet been solved, the piece said.

Newsweek cited the opinion of the commander of the UAV unit of the 58th brigade of the AFU Sergey Varakin, who confirmed that the need for explosives remains one of the main obstacles to the mass use of drones.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it received new assistance from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
