Iran’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed the death of deputy commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Abbas Nilforushan in an Israeli strike on Beirut.
‘This vicious and cowardly act is another clear sign of the terrorist and criminal nature of the Zionist regime and its known supporters…. This horrendous crime … will never go unanswered,’ the agency said in a press release.
On 28 September, Mehr news agency wrote that IRGC Brigadier General Abbas Nilforushan was killed in an Israeli strike on Beirut that also killed Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said Nasrallah’s assassination would lead to the ‘destruction’ of Israel.
