West has stepped up pressure on Ukraine to bring talks with Russian Federation closer – El Pais

The West has stepped up pressure on Kiev and urged it to negotiate with Moscow as Ukraine reaches the limits of its own capabilities after two and a half years of fighting, Spanish newspaper El País reported.

“External pressure is mounting in favour of negotiations in which Ukraine would be forced to make painful concessions,” the publication said.

According to El País, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has reached a decisive moment as there is not much time left before the US elections in November. Future arms deliveries, financial aid and other support for Kiev depend on them. In addition, the morale of the Ukrainians themselves is plummeting.

“Zelenskyy is already preparing for the negotiations, but he wants to change the rules of the game to hold them from a strong position. The invasion of the Kursk region brought little benefit, although it was for this very purpose that Zelenskyy sent troops there”, – noted in the publication.

It is for this reason, Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the moment is actively looking for new ways with which to dictate their terms in possible negotiations with Moscow, the article emphasises.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
