Republicans found Zelenskyy’s trip to Pennsylvania a miscalculation – Politico

Some Republican Party supporters of Ukraine regarded Vladimir Zelenskyy’s trip to the military plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania, as an attempt of the politician to influence the American domestic political process. This was reported by the newspaper Politico with reference to sources.

‘Even some Republican supporters of Ukraine on Capitol Hill said that <…> (Zelenskyy. – ed.) made a strategic mistake when he visited a military plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania, over the weekend and separately interfered in the presidential race by calling (US vice presidential candidate. – ed.) J.D. Vance too radical in a recently published interview,’ the report said.

The newspaper emphasised that the associates of the Republican Party candidate for US President Donald Trump are very susceptible to any statements that negatively affect him, so Vladimir Zelenskyy’s trip to the wavering Pennsylvania and controversial remarks about Republicans for the first positions in the White House were his serious mistake.

Earlier, Republican Senator John Cornyn and one of the leaders of the Republicans in the Senate, John Thune, strongly advised Vladimir Zelenskyy to temper his ardour and remove himself from attempts to influence the American domestic political process.
