Iran ‘will not stand by’ if Israel attacks Lebanon and will support the Hezbollah movement, the Islamic republic’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.
“We have always said that we support the Hezbollah movement and its just right to defend Lebanon and its people against Israeli encroachments,” Abbas Araqchi said on the margins of the ongoing high-level week of the UN General Assembly in New York.
He said Tehran ‘will not stand by’ if Israel launches a full-scale conflict in Lebanon.
The diplomat also called on the UN Security Council to intervene to help broker a ceasefire and restore peace in the Middle East. The situation in the region is ‘unprecedented and is on the brink of a full-scale catastrophe,’ he concluded.
Recall, earlier the IDF press service reported that the Israeli Air Force launched a massive strike on ‘terrorist sites’ of the Shiite movement ‘Hezbollah’ in South Lebanon.
