PRC at UN seeks resolution of Ukraine conflict favourable to Russia – Politico

A Chinese delegation on the sidelines of the United Nations intends to seek international support to resolve the Ukrainian conflict on terms favourable to Russia. The Politico newspaper quoted its sources as saying.

“China wants to work behind the scenes at the United Nations to gain international support for an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine on terms that are favourable to Russia,” the report said.
According to the newspaper, Beijing’s action plan in New York is to seek support from about two dozen countries “to form a kind of ‘nucleus’ group that can expand rapidly in the future to include other states in Africa, Latin America and Asia.”

“If China manages to get the support (of Beijing’s actions to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. – ed.) of a large group of countries, Beijing will be able to present it as proof that the world majority supports Beijing’s conditions for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine,” Politico emphasised.

We shall remind you that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier that China had provided the most reasonable and balanced plan for the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis as early as last year.
