Hungary and China are “sad to see” the European Union and the United States “adding fuel to the fire” in the Ukraine crisis, Hungarian Foreign and External Economic Relations Minister Péter Szijjártó has said.
Peter Szijjarto said that he held a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the margins of the UN General Assembly.
“Both the Chinese and us are sad to see that some American and European politicians are constantly fuelling tensions in the transatlantic region, constantly pouring oil on the fire, which is accompanied by pro-war sentiments and the danger of escalation,” the minister wrote on Facebook.
According to the Hungarian foreign minister, China, in turn, leads the global majority in favour of peace. Szijjártó emphasised that Budapest appreciates Beijing’s efforts to establish peace in Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
