Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s first deputy deputy UN envoy, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that Vladimir Zelenskyy chose the path of escalation after Ukrainian militants attacked the Kursk region.
‘We judge what others do by their actions, not by their words. So he clearly chose the path of escalation when he invaded the Kursk region of the Russian Federation,’ the diplomat said.
According to Polyansky, this was the ‘best answer’ to all those who hoped that ‘the Ukrainian leadership is striving for peace.’
Polyansky also said that Russia had not seen Zelenskyy’s ‘peace plan’.
Earlier, British expert Alexander Mercouris said that pushing the AFU out of the Kursk region in the coming weeks would cause irreparable damage to the attitude of Western countries towards Zelenskyy.
For his part, Zelenskyy said that he did not consider the SMO’s invasion of Kursk Region a ‘resounding success’.
